Last updated: 1 November 2026 — student offers open and close fast; this list is re-checked every month and expired deals are removed.
Exam season runs November to March, and that is exactly when students search for free AI help. These are the best free AI tools for students in India right now — starting with the one offer that has a hard deadline: Google’s free student plan ends for new claims on 31 December 2026.
1. Google Gemini — Free 1-Year AI Plus Plan (Claim by 31 December 2026)
The single biggest student deal of 2026. Eligible Indian college students get Google AI Plus free for 12 months — higher Gemini usage limits, 400 GB of storage, Gemini in Gmail and Docs, NotebookLM with higher limits, and the Gemini Student Hub with study notebooks, flashcards and practice quizzes. Claim it on the Google One student offer page with a personal Google account and SheerID college verification. Important: in India the free year is AI Plus, not AI Pro (the free AI Pro year is US-only in 2026). After 12 months AI Plus renews at Rs 399 a month unless you cancel — set a reminder before it renews.
2. NotebookLM (Gemini Notebook) — Study From Your Own Notes
Upload your class notes, PDFs or slides and NotebookLM answers questions only from your material, makes summaries, flashcards and audio overviews. The free plan covers everyday study use; the student AI Plus plan above raises its limits. Best for: last-week revision, when you must trust the notes, not the open internet.
3. Perplexity — Research With Sources
Perplexity answers questions with cited sources you can open and check — far better than a bare chatbot answer for assignments and projects. Basic search works free without an account; signing in free unlocks more. Best for: finding sources fast, then reading the originals yourself.
4. ChatGPT — Everyday Study Assistant
The free ChatGPT plan handles explanations, essay outlines, maths steps, code debugging and practice questions. Keep it for understanding concepts, not copying answers — teachers increasingly check for AI-written submissions. Best for: “explain this like I am 15” moments and brainstorming.
5. Gamma — Presentations in Minutes
Type your topic and Gamma builds a slide deck with text and images; the free plan includes starter credits for a few presentations a month. Best for: class seminars and project presentations when the deadline is tonight.
6. Google Flow — Free AI Video for Projects
Flow’s free daily credits (about 50 a day, roughly five short Veo clips) turn a script or photo into a video — useful for class projects, reels and presentations. Note Google now lists an AI plan as a requirement for some Flow access, so check your account first.
7. Photopea — Free Photoshop in Your Browser
Full photo editing in the browser with no account and no install — layers, PSD files, background removal basics. Best for: poster-making, assignment covers and image work without paying for Photoshop.

Student Offer Deadlines to Watch

- Free tiers shrink: Gamma’s free credits and Flow’s daily credits change often — check the plan page before starting a big project.
